Fern Morrison began her involvement with yoga more than 30 years ago. First, solely as a practitioner, she studied with a broad range of instructors experiencing the many approaches to this most ancient of disciplines. Early on, she drew on her professional training and experience as a special education teacher to bring her love of yoga to others, offering classes to small groups in community centres and fitness clubs.
Early on, she was particularly drawn to the Kripalu method's ability to combine yoga's physical practices with the mindfulness of meditation and decided that she would benefit from the residential certification programme offered by the Kripalu Center in Lennox, Massachusetts. Since then, Fern has completed the full basic and advanced certification programmes at Kripalu and holds certification status with the Federation of Ontario Yoga Teachers. She has also completed a 500-hour certification program at the Esther Myers's studio based on the work of Vanda Scaravelli, and is also a certified Ashtanga instructor. Fern has completed a programme of certification in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, a one-on-one holistic healing art combining traditional yoga with elements of contemporary body/mind psychology. Fern also completed a foundation program based on the work of T.K.V. Desikachar (Viniyoga) She is currently working towards certification in Anusara Inspired Yoga.
